Tango is built so that there is nothing to collect. This policy covers the Tango app for iOS and the tangodown.io website.
The app has no account, no sign in, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. It does not collect personal data.
This is the one place where something of yours leaves your phone, so it is worth being exact.
If you share a screenshot to Tango, that image is sent to our server so it can be looked at and turned into something to learn. It is held only for as long as that one request takes, it is never written to disk, it is never logged, and it is never used to train anything. It is analysed by Claude, made by Anthropic, and then it is gone.
Nothing is attached to it. No name, no account, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, and no history of anything you have shared before. We cannot tell that two shared images came from the same person, and neither can Anthropic.
Tango never reads your photo library, and it never takes a screenshot itself. It only ever sees the single image you deliberately chose to send it. If you never use the share sheet, no image ever leaves your phone.
Share deliberately. Because the image is analysed, do not share screenshots containing anything you would not want read: private messages, documents, banking screens, or anyone else's personal information.
Separately, the app asks our server for practice questions. That request contains one thing: which of four kinds of thinking to write about, for example "logic" or "numeric". It carries no identifier and nothing about you, and the questions it gets back are cached and shared between everyone.
Your streak, your accuracy, your practice scores, your daily goal, and every answer you have ever given stay in storage on your own device. None of it is transmitted, at any point, to us or to anyone else. You can erase all of it from the About screen with Erase my data, and deleting the app removes it too.
Our server is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard request logs as part of delivering any web request. Those logs may include your IP address. We do not use them to build a profile, we do not link them to anything else, and we do not sell or share them.
Tango is suitable for all ages. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Vercel records standard request logs, which may include your IP address, as part of delivering the page.
If you give us your email address in the sign up field, we keep it. It is stored in our subscriber list, held in a database run by Supabase, along with the fact that you signed up from tangodown.io and the date you did. That list is shared across Bureau St. James, so the same list covers our other projects.
We use it for one thing: to tell you when Tango is available. We do not sell it, we do not rent it, and we do not pass it to advertisers. If you want off the list, email hello@tangodown.io and we will delete it.
Giving us your address is entirely optional. The site works without it, and the Tango app never asks for it.
Tango uses no advertising networks, no analytics providers, and no third party software development kits that collect data.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
